Mr. Prahlad Giri with over 25 years of experience in economic research, financial sector reform, policy formulation, and supervision at Central Bank of Nepal. He is currently serving as Acting Director at the Economic Research Department of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), where he leads the Economic Analysis Division and Publications. His role involves macroeconomic modeling, forecasting, and overseeing major NRB publications. Mr. Giri has played a pivotal role in advancing financial inclusion, MSME finance strategy, and microfinance regulation. He has worked closely with national stakeholders and international partners to drive inclusive financial reforms.
His contributions to regulatory innovation include the development of frameworks for regulatory sandbox, P2P lending, crowdfunding, and digital finance. He has also been involved in resolving distressed financial institutions and strengthening supervisory guidelines. Prahlad Giri’s intensive engagement covers macroeconomic analysis and forecasting, policy analysis and advocacy, financial sector supervision and regulation, financial inclusion policy, and financial stability reforms. He plays a pivotal role in shaping Nepal’s economic and financial landscape through his deep expertise and strategic contributions.
Mr. Giri is a recognized keynote speaker and panelist, and has addressed regional and global forums on topics like Open Banking, Fintech, Green Finance, liquidity management, and trade diversification. He is also a visiting lecturer and experienced trainer in banking, financial regulation, leadership, and communication. His influence extends beyond the central bank, as he actively contributes to public discourse through publications, media engagements, and development advocacy.
