Development Consultant
Mr. Basnet is a highly regarded development consultant and master trainer with over 30 years of experience in the development sector. He has honed his skills through a wide range of involvement in various fields of knowledge, which he has used to bring greater benefits to rural and urban communities and institutions. His areas of expertise include community research, public relations, project management, organization development, proposal and report writing, and more. In the last decade, he has focused on child-friendly learning, motivation for students and teachers, parental skills, and psychosocial counseling, providing training to thousands of teachers in public and private schools based on the UNICEF model.
Most of his career has been spent working for PLAN-Nepal, although he has also served a short tenure with Nepal Participatory Action Network (NEPAN). During his time with PLAN Nepal, he had the opportunity to visit over 68 districts in the country, which motivated him to work for the community and share his knowledge independently. He has taken advantage of every opportunity to enhance his training and delivery skills from both domestic and international institutions such as Plan/PRERANA in New Delhi, as well as renowned international organizations in Nepal.
Mr. Basnet has a deep understanding of Nepalese rural and urban contexts. He has provided training on child protection policies to school teachers and NGO representatives, which has helped to reduce dropouts and child trafficking in communities. He has also facilitated training on gender, PRA, people-centered development, proposal writing, project management, and more. Some of his notable training sessions include the Integrated Leadership Development Program (ILDP), Appreciative Inquiry for Karuna management on behalf of Plan Nepal, and a 10-day training on the Better Life Options Program for adolescents for an Indian organization. He has also delivered sessions in Bangladesh, India, and several African countries.
